Angela Lau has interpreted extensively in criminal and civil courts and other legal settings, and has worked in conferences and medical consultations. She has translated complex legal and non-legal documents that range from litigation, contracts and wills to clinical trial reports.
Angela Lau grew up Hong Kong, where she used English and Chinese daily in her work as a journalist at Radio Television Hong Kong. After obtaining a master’s degree in journalism in the United States, she worked for major U.S. newspapers for more than 20 years, winning awards for writing and reporting excellence. She changed career paths and became certified as a Mandarin and Cantonese interpreter, capitalizing on her language skills and broad knowledge of laws and ordinances, court proceedings, police procedures, government, the environment and education.
Most important, Angela is thoroughly familiar with American and Chinese cultures and can adroitly navigate the cultural factors that come into play when the East meets West.
